This 1.9-mile easy loop trail in Bella Vista, AR has plenty to explore, but the main attraction is the Tanyard Creek Falls. Wait until a good rainfall to catch this waterfall at peak glory!
A 2.5-mile moderate-intensity loop trail in Pelsor, AR that will lead you to beautiful bluffs with amazing rock formations and overlooks along the entire bluff line. Don’t miss the trail that leads to the bottom of the bluffs to explore underneath (my favorite part!)

King’s Bluff trail is a 1.8-mile loop that shares a trailhead with Pedestal Rock. If you have it in you, hit both of these trails on the same day. This trail is a bit meh on the hike to and from the bluffs but has an amazing area at the bottom with a waterfall you won’t want to miss. The first half of the trail is all a slow descent, so save energy for the second half of the trail back up!
This trail is a 1.2-mile loop neer Deer, AR with a quick descent straight down to one of the largest natural bridges in the southeastern United States. The natural bridge is over 130 feet long and 20 feet wide. Although the natural bridge is the main attraction to this trail, it was not our favorite part. The trail loops around through the forest, offering the chance to explore small caves.
My favorite hiking backpack!
This waterfall hike, also near Deer, AR, will be busy when the main attraction, the waterfall, is at max flow, or frozen. The 1.9 mile out and back hike to the waterfall is all downhill, leaving an all uphill hike back. But is totally worth it!
Just a small 0.8 mile out and back flat hiking trail in Gentry, AR is set up for bird watching. Take your binoculars and a lunch to sit and enjoy the pavilions next to Lake Flint Creek at the end of this hiking trail.
Zulu Water Bottle
My tried and true, leak-proof “emotional support water bottle.”
This loop trail hike is lightly moderate and preteen-approved. This hiking trail has become one of our favorites because it is one of the closer hikes with a beautiful overlook, a long enough hike to make it worth the drive, not too strenuous, and an amazing overlook.
We park at the CCC Overlook and hike a 2-mile loop to see the Yellow Rock Overlook, for 1 hour of hiking (plus any time you spend at the overlook)
This 2-mile loop trail sits at the top of the mountain for a fairly level hike with gorgeous views throughout the entire hike.
There is ample parking and a $3 self-pay console available that is reportedly “strictly enforced.” The drive to the parking lot is beautiful, but a long, winding dirt road that at times can be too narrow for 2 vehicles to easily pass.
This 4.3 mile out and back is the most insane hike I have done in Arkansas. It is not an official trail because of the risks and hazards. But if you find yourself headed that way, read up and make sure you know what you’re in for.
The most challenging (and dangerous) hike in Arkansas.
AllTrails lists this hike as a 0.7 out and back moderate hike. My hike differed.
The trailhead at the Cherry Bend Recreational Area, just a small parking area at the side of the road, holds just a handful of vehicles.
This hike, going off trail a bit to follow the water, hiking to the bottom of the falls, and then back, landed me close to 2 miles and was very challenging on the return hike up the side of the mountain.
The High Bank Twin Falls sit less than a quarter of a mile off the road and is an easy hike. Totaling just 0.4 miles out and back, this quick stop is worth it if you are going through the area.
Drive just past the High Bank Mulberry River Access Point (a very visible and popular access point), and find the small parking area on the right side of the road. Take off hiking on the trail across the street. It can be hard to see from where you are parked, but when you walk across the road, it is easily visible.
