Peak Arkansas fall foliage colors are usually mid to late October and into November. By the 3rd week in October, colors are in full swing. By the 4th week, colors are at their peak. The first week or 2 of November will still hold some color, but many of the leaves have fallen from the trees.

Arkansas Fall Foliage Drives

Arkansas Scenic Highway 7 Byway. Along this gorgeous route through the Ozark Mountains, you’ll have the opportunity to stop at several state parks and admire the breathtaking fall foliage. Some of the must-see stops include Petit Jean State Park, Mount Magazine State Park, and Devil’s Den State Park.

Pig Trail Scenic Byway. This scenic byway winds through the Ozark National Forest with 318 curves and 72 switchbacks, offering incredible Arkansas fall foliage views.

Talimena National Scenic Byway. This scenic route runs along the top of the Ouachita Mountains, providing incredible views of the Arkansas River Valley and the nearby peaks. During autumn, the foliage on the hillsides is magical.

Yellow Rock Trail at Devil’s Den State Park: This 1.8-mile trail leads to Yellow Rock, a sandstone bluff with panoramic views of the Lee Creek Valley.

Centerpoint to Goat Trail to Big Bluff: This 5.9 mile out and back trail leads to Big Bluff, the tallest bluff on the Buffalo River, and gives you stunning views of the Buffalo National River.

Yellow Rock Overlook, Devil’s Den

White Rock Mountain Trail in White Rock Mountain Recreation Area: This 3.5-mile round-trip hike leads to the summit of White Rock Mountain, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Petit Jean State Park. This park has many overlooks that are excellent for viewing fall foliage. Palisades Overlook and Stout’s Point do not require a hike. Cedar Falls Overlook is a short walk. Multiple viewpoints are available on other hiking trails, such as Bear Cave Trail and Seven Hollows.

Mount Nebo Rim Trail in Mount Nebo State Park: This 2.4-mile loop trail offers stunning views of the Arkansas River Valley and the Ozark Mountains. The trail also passes by a number of historical markers that tell the story of Mount Nebo’s past.

Devil’s Den State Park

Whitaker Point Trail (Hawksbill Crag) in Ponca: This 2.9-mile round-trip hike leads to a dramatic overlook of the Buffalo River Valley. The overlook is known for its hawksbill-shaped rock formation, which juts out into the valley. Whitaker Point is Arkansas’s most photographed location.

Signal Hill Trail in Mount Magazine State Park: This 1.6-mile round-trip hike leads to the summit of Signal Hill, which offers 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Pinnacle Mountain West Summit Trail in Pinnacle Mountain State Park: This 1.2-mile out-and-back trail leads to the summit of Pinnacle Mountain and offers beautiful views of the Arkansas River Valley, the Ouachita Mountains, and the city of Little Rock. On a clear day, hikers can see for miles in every direction.

    I live in upstate ny by the Adirondack park line. Your foliage is very similar to ours! It’s a beautiful time to get outdoors and take a nature walk!
